Lalín Science Fair – Launching “El Juego del Salmón”

Feira científica de ida e volta – Friday, 30th of May 2025

Today we had the pleasure to launch our recently designed game, “El Juego del Salmón”, an exciting adventure where players follow the salmon migration upstream a river plagued with challenges, obstacles and dangers, where the first salmon to reach its spawning grounds at the headwaters wins!

The game has proven to be really engaging for both children and adults. Players can construct dams to block other salmon players downstream of their position, or remove barriers to continue their upstream migration.

More often than not, there wasn’t a single salmon that could reach the river headwaters – sadly, so it is the case for real salmon that have seen their habitats fragmented and degraded by humans.

The game was accompanied with the AEMS – Ríos con Vida video: “Salvemos al salmón ibérico”, part of their campaign pushing for the conservation of the endangered Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) populations in the iberian peninsula.

We will soon have this game uploaded here, on this website, for anyone to download, print it and play! Beware of anglers, dams, pollution and otters along the way!
